runner - backpacker - coach

My life has had seasons. During my childhood and through college my life revolved around soccer. I played competitively in college at a small DIII school called Randolph College. As a fresh and new program I helped develop the program into a nationally competitive team. The highlight of my time there was winning a conference championship and having respectable run into the NCAA tournament.

After college that season ended and another began. For a few years after college my life was centered on backpacking and skiing. I found myself working as a seasonal employee chasing jobs throughout the American West. I spent winters working in Park City, Utah and in Mammoth Lakes, California. During the summers I worked in Glacier National Park in Montana. I would occasionally get tired of this life and take a summer sabbatical to hike a long trail. I thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail right out of college with my brother which was an amazing experience. The next trail I traversed was the Pacific Crest Trail a couple of years later. This was a solo trip, but I quickly fell in with some fellow hikers. Two more years later I finished my Triple Crown by completing the Continental Divide Trail. This was a special trip. I started out with my brother and we separated after a month of hiking. I had some fast hiking plans I had to go chase. After completing the CDT I spent one more summer working in Glacier National Park as a hiking and backpacking guide, this happened to be my last stint in seasonal employment.

While working in Glacier National Park that summer I discovered how amazing trail running can truly be. It was a great training ground and filled my soul with awe-inspiring alpine vistas. It was around this time I started trail running and training in a serious manor. I would still take the occasional backcountry ski trip or weekend backpacking trip. This trail running season is where I currently am. Somewhere along the way I became enthralled with the sport and the people in it. It’s safe to say I am a big fan of all running disciplines. Currently I enjoy the pursuit of fitness. I am deep in the process of building upon years and years of endurance training. Luckily my sporting background has helped me along the way.

I want to build a future in this sport. This is way I earned my UESCA Ultrarunning coaching certification and I am excited to begin a career as a running coach. I believe we can all benefit from being outside and moving our bodies more. I want to help people accomplish their goals and chase their dreams.
